Bethlehem Country Club

Project Overview

Located in Bethlehem, one of Tauranga’s most sought-after suburbs, Bethlehem Country Club is an Arvida Living Well Community that enjoys close proximity to cafés and restaurants, walking and cycling tracks, a large
shopping centre, and medical facilities.

Amotto Consultancy provided a Condition Assessment Report of the existing swimming and spa pool facilities at the Arvida Bethlehem Country Club. These are popular facilities within the village and are thoroughly enjoyed by the residents.

All operational, maintenance and capital requirements were captured within the report to ensure the swimming and spa pools can continue to operate and be maintained to a high standard.

Site-specific operational procedures were developed to ensure that the swimming and spa pool facilities complied with the requirements of Quality Pool Accreditation. This accreditation is the operational benchmark set by Recreation Aotearoa for all retirement village pool and spa facilities endorsed by the Retirement Village Association (RVA). We have also provided an onsite staff training session to ensure the staff members had a clear understanding of the requirements and standards, which were documented within their SSOPs. In 2022 Amotto Consultancy has also supplied a new swimming pool cover for the facility. In early 2023 Amotto Consultancy was engaged to supply and install a new spa pool and relocate and upgrade the swimming pool plant and equipment.

Project Outcomes

The Site Condition Assessment Report:

Identified compliance requirements.
Prioritised maintenance needs.
Provided recommendations and estimated costs for required work.
Identified opportunities to simply improve the function and operations of the facility.

Site-Specific Operational Procedures:

Were written in accordance with NZS 5826:2010 Pool Water Quality, NZS 441:2008 Swimming Pool Design, and industry-specific guidelines were presented to Arvida Bethlehem Country Club in a comprehensive manual used as the basis for the onsite staff training sessions.

Onsite Staff Training Sessions:

Familiarised the aquatic staff with the SSOPs
Ensured the aquatic staff at Arvida Bethlehem Country Club can run a well-maintained, healthy and pleasant aquatic facility both for the residents of their community and their guests and also for the wider public.

New Spa Pool:

A new spa was installed on the poolside for maximum enjoyment of the residents
Fit-for-purpose access steps and platform were provided.

Relocated and Upgraded the Swimming Pool Plant and Equipment:

The swimming pool plant was upgraded and relocated to a new purpose-built plant room.

Through these projects, the maintenance staff now have the procedures and training to deliver a healthy, safe, enjoyable and future-proofed environment both for the residents of their community and their guests.
