Aquatic Facilities

Project Overview

Waimakariri District Council manages a spread of aquatic facilities serving communities across the district. Amotto Consultancy was brought in to provide a clear, evidence-based picture of the current physical condition of each facility, identify compliance gaps and risk areas, and map out renewal requirements across short, medium and long-term timeframes.

The findings form the foundation for the Council’s asset management strategy, supporting sustainable maintenance planning and prioritised capital investment across the district’s aquatic portfolio.

Project Outcomes

The assessment covered all critical elements of each facility, including pool tanks and surface finishes across main and learners pools, concourse areas and drainage, poolside accessories and equipment, and accessibility provisions.

Mechanical and hydraulic systems were assessed in full, covering filtration and circulation, chemical dosing, heating, balance tanks and pipework, and plant room condition. Changing facilities, amenities, and rescue equipment were also reviewed.

Each facility was assessed for compliance with NZS 4441:2008 and NZS 5826:2010, with operational readiness for the upcoming season also considered in the review.
