Quality Pool is an excellent management programme provided by Recreation Aotearoa for the safe operation of an aquatic environment. The programme has been tailored specifically for retirement villages, schools, accommodation providers, motels, hotels and holiday parks. The assessment process moderates the delivery of a site’s aquatic operations and services, with the direct intent to limit serious harm to their communities.

Recreation Aotearoa has worked closely with WorkSafe New Zealand to ensure the required standards meet what is reasonably expected of providers of aquatic environments.

As an outline, the following aspects will be included within Quality Pool SSOPs:

• risk assessment and management
• pool water quality
• supervision
• emergency procedures
• signage, and
• health and safety.

Once the Quality Pool criteria has been achieved, a certificate and sticker will be awarded to the site. Displaying this will enable you to promote your Quality Pool accredited facility.
